Waffuru ke-ki

Japanese Waffle cakes

Look how creative Japanese confectionaries are! Waffle with green tea cream, waffle with sweet bean paste (called Anko), royal mil tea flavored cream, soy milk cream with fruits, cheese cream, etc, etc... Japanese people are genius combining western and eastern materials. "It's not too sweet!" is the key phrase for the business to be successful because confectionaries are consumed by mainly women in Japan. And, you know, all of women in the world are pretending to be working on a diet. So, they care less sugar items.
How about the price? The web site says that these waffles are priced between 100yen to 120yen, which is about 1 dollar in today’s exchange rate. It’s not that expensive. BUT the size is tiny. It says, 80mm× 35mm×25mm, which is 0.34inches×0.13×0.09. It’s only one bite! Humm, but you know what? Still they are right size in Japan because again, customers are dieting women. They love little tiny sweets of all different flavors.
Also, Japanese people LOVE the area limited stuff. For example, Chiba prefecture is famous for peanuts; therefore, they created “Chiba peanut caramel cream waffle roll”, Kobe city has a well known port, and port does import wine; therefore, “Kobe wine cream waffle roll”, and so on. These area specials are only sold in the particular town. Look at this page if you are curious "Osaka famous mix juice waffle roll". http://item.rakuten.co.jp/rl-waffle/w0020/
