こそあど 

The demonstrative and iterrogative words, which are either pronouns, adjectives or adverbs, may be divided into four groups depending on the prefix:

こ- Something near the speaker.
そ- Something nearer the listener than the speaker.
あ- Something at a distance from both speaker and listener.
ど- Question

kore this one, sore that one, are that one over there, dore which one
kono(noun) this~, sono(noun) that~, ano(noun)that~, dono(noun) which~
koko here, soko there, asoko over there, doko where
kochira this way, sochira that way, achira that way, dochira which way
konna this kind of, sonna that kind of, anna that kind of, donna what kind of
koo in this manner, soo in that manner, aa in that manner, doo in which way
